This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This shorter refresher training is intended for students who have previous training or experience in CPR. It is recommended that this unit be renewed every 12 months so that the level of knowledge and skill is maintained to the standard required. Delivery mode and duration
This unit of competency requires attendance at a face to face training session and completion of practical assessment tasks.
The refresher training session takes 4 hours including the practical assessment tasks which requires the ability to provide resuscitation and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. One requirement of the training package is that you are to be assessed as physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor; including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions. There can be no exceptions to this requirement.
